Undefeated during the regular season with a record of 6–0–1, the Strykers took to the road on Saturday and proceeded to defeat the top two PWSI teams (by scores of 3-1 and 2-1) on their home field in the SFL Tournament to earn the Division 2 championship. In addition to beating the two Prince William entries, the Strykers had defeated a strong Annandale (ABGC) team earlier in the Spring. Indeed, in an amazing season-long effort, the boys notched five shutout wins and allowed only seven goals all season while scoring 34 of their own.
Congratulations to long-time BRYC coaches Bob Brennis and John Kelleher, who lauded the team for their "superb effort and (thanked them for their) sportsmanship, competitiveness and the manner in which (they) represented the Strykers and BRYC all season." The FPYC Father’s Day Tournament championship reamins as the team’s next goal but some boys (young men by now!) are graduating from high school this week and have finished their season, and their BRYC soccer careers, with this SFL championship. What a way to end it. But "Once a Stryker…always a Stryker!"
