BRYC Sponsored Summer Player Development Camp
Golden Boot Partners with BRYC Soccer to Offer Soccer Fun in the Sun this Summer!

This summer BRYC has partnered with Golden Boot to hold a BRYC Exclusive Summer Camp.

The camp will be the week of July 29-August 2 from 9am - 12pm, and will include sessions for players of ALL ages... U4-U19. The younger players will have a Mini-Kickers Camp with your choice between two 1-1/2 hour sessions. The older groups will have Player Development sessions from 9am - 12 pm.

It's going to be right in our backyards... at Lake Braddock Lower, and Golden Boot is giving our players a $20 discount on the cost!

Registration is open now. We are over half full for the camp, so sign-up soon!

To register:  Go to www.goldenbootsoccer.com, click on PROGRAMS, then SUMMER, then start to register your player. You will get to a list of all the courses they offer. Under Mini-Kickers and Player Development there should be options that are labeled, 'BRYC EXCLUSIVE'... choose those!

BRYC is very focused on trying to give our kids every opportunity to grow as players. We have been beefing up our training for players with more offerings like footskills, goalie training at introductory levels and higher levels, and more focused training from professional trainers through our partnership with Golden Boot. This is another program we're piloting to give our players a better experience with the game. Programs like these help build skills and confidence. Skill and confidence lead to success... success certainly makes it more fun! And THAT is one of our goals at BRYC Rec Soccer... FUN, Friendship, Fitness.

If you have any questions about the Summer Player Development Camp, don't hesitate to call me.

I hope you will take advantage of this program, and that your child enjoys it. I look forward to seeing you on the pitch!

Have a fun and safe summer! joan smith, BRYC Training Director, cell: 703-475-6003

Hi BRYC Coaches! We are Joan and James Sullivan, and we are happy to return as the Training Coordinators for BRYC.

For all the new coaches out there, what we’d like you to know is that we were in your shoes. We came up from ground zero... no soccer background, very limited soccer knowledge, VERY scared with 16 sets of expectant eyes looking to us for guidance and knowledge. I often wondered if we were crazy. What did WE have to offer? What we had, and what we still have, is a firm belief that soccer is good for our kids. It teaches life skills on so many levels, how to be a team player, how to get along with lots of different personalities, how to be open-minded and always willing to learn and to try, how to be selfless and most important that "winning" can be defined in many ways, it’s not just the score at the end of the game.

Did I say that soccer was good for our kids? We mean our coaches too, because soccer makes you use all these skills as a coach. The coach always sets the tone for team. Parents and players will all be looking to you and follow your lead through the toughest situations.

We have been coaching for four years now. We’ve learned a lot... sometimes the hard way. What we look to accomplish in the Training Coordinator position is to make it easier for all of you, our coaches. We want you to know that you have resources, and where to find them. We want you to have the opportunity to interact with our other BRYC coaches and share best practices and thoughts. If you are a long-time coach, we’d like to pair you up with a newer coach so they have a go-to person for answers and for reassurance. We also want you to have access to professional training yourselves, so that you can grow as coaches... and that, in turn, will make BRYC grow as a club.

As we have progressed as coaches, we’ve tried many different things with the team through the seasons. Some worked, some didn’t. But we felt it was always important to try new things, because you never know what will be the thing that makes it "click" for the team. I tell you this so you won’t be surprised when you see new things. We’re switching up some of our programs, trying new things for the kids and for the coaches just to see what "clicks".

We hope that you take advantage of the programs offered, and that you find them helpful. Please don’t hesitate to contact us and let us know what thoughts you have to share.

We look forward to seeing you on the pitch! Sincerely, joan and James Sullivan
