U14 Girls Squad Spells "DANGER" For Its Opponents

Girls' Record Goes to 7-0 Heading Into Championship Contest on November 12

November 1 -- Matching the impressive performance of Brian Conaway’s U14 Girls "Icebreakers" squad last year, this season’s "Danger", coached by Joan Smith and James Sullivan, sports an enviable unblemished 7-0 record at the end of their regular season.

On October 22 the girls returned to their stubborn ways, shutting out a Springfield Youth Club (SYC) squad by a score of 3-0 after "stumbling" last week when they played a very dete4rmined BRYC squad coached by Gene McHale and Bill Brocato, scrapping their way to a 3-0 lead before giving up their first goal of the season, then shutting down their opponents the reest of the way for a 3-1 victory. Despite that loss, McHale’s and Brocato’s girls are still in a tight race for second place in the division with three wins and three losses along the way.

Danger will play a season ending championship match now rescheduled on November 12. The championship game pits the winners of the league’s two Divisions. Danger is assured first place in its. Two teams from SYC who tied each other early in the season but who are both undefeated, are battling it out for the right to face Danger in the finals. One of them has allowed no goals this season while the other has allowed but two. It should be a great contest.
