BRYC was one of the first in the area to adopt small-sided play, starting with the U5 players at 3v3.  BRYC subsequently added a U4 Developmental Program in conjunction with Golden Boot Soccer.  As the players age up the teams get larger, eventually including the goalkeeper position at U-9.  Small-sided soccer means more ball touches, more action, and less standing around.  Starting with the U5’s it also means more volunteers are needed to work with more small teams.  Recreational soccer is for fun and to build a love for the game that will last a lifetime! For many, it is also a first step toward advanced play in travel soccer. We hope that all of our players learn about teamwork, grow their soccer skills, and form wonderful friendships!

Similarly, coaches will notify players and parents of their team selection/assignment in mid-August for Fall and mid-March for Spring. Zero Tolerance toward Referee Abuse

 

Please know that the BRYC Zero Tolerance Policy prohibits any person from addressing the referee during the game except to point out an emergency situation.  A person who in the opinion of the referee violates the Zero Tolerance Policy will be asked to leave the vicinity of the field of play, and the team may face further sanctions. Many referees are adults however a sizable number of referees in Northern Virginia are young people just learning to referee. Like all of us, referees are human and may make mistakes here and there. Please show them the common courtesy you would expect to be shown to your child or to yourself. Remember: we're all here for fun!
