BRYC was one of the first in the area to adopt small-sided play, starting with the U5 players at 3v3.  BRYC subsequently added a U4 Developmental Program in conjunction with Golden Boot Soccer.  As the players age up, the teams generally get larger, eventually including the goalkeeper position at U-9.  Small-sided soccer means more ball touches, more action, and less standing around.  Starting with the U5’s it also means more volunteers are needed to work with more small teams.  Recreational soccer is for fun and to build a love for the game that will last a lifetime! For many, it is also a first step toward advanced play in travel soccer. We hope that all of our players learn about teamwork, grow their soccer skills, and form wonderful friendships!

We encourage you to check it out now and come back during the season for more information. Please note that we strive to have game schedules released by the end of August for Fall season and late March for Spring season. Similarly, coaches will notify players and parents of their team selection/assignment in mid to late-August for Fall and mid-March for Spring (typically within 2 to 5 days after the pre-season coaches' meeting listed on the website). If you have not heard from a coach after that time, please contact your player's League Director.

 

Finally, if you have questions or concerns throughout the season that your coach cannot answer, please raise them with your player's League Director. Zero Tolerance toward Referee Abuse

 

Please know that the BRYC Zero Tolerance Policy prohibits any person from addressing the referee during the game except to point out an emergency situation.  A person who in the opinion of the referee violates the Zero Tolerance Policy will be asked to leave the vicinity of the field of play, and the team may face further sanctions. Many referees are adults however a sizable number of referees in Northern Virginia are young people just learning to referee. Like all of us, referees are human and may make mistakes here and there. Please show them the common courtesy you would expect to be shown to your child or to yourself. Remember: we're all here for fun!

No Pets at Fields - Please!

 

Finally, while we may love our pets, they should not be at our fields, either school fields or close to any Fairfax park field. There are three Fairfax County ordinances prohibiting pets (mainly dogs, but all pets) from all Fairfax County school grounds.  There are health notices posted on ALL FCPS school grounds asking pet owners to NOT bring their pets on school grounds.  Please do not bring your pets to ANY school fields. This includes games and practices. Please remember some players and spectators are allergic and still others are scared.  So please leave Fido at home - you'll see him in about an hour!
