The U7 Boys age group uses the following parameters:
Size 3 soccer ball
Shin guards are mandatory and must be covered by a sock. A player is not allowed to play in a game or practice without them
No jewelry of any kind is allowed. Earrings cannot be taped over and must be removed before the child can play. No exceptions!
Allowed 1 hour practice time per week
Games are played 4v4 without goalies
Two small-sided games will be played at the same time with half the players participating in 1 game and the remaining players in the second game. The coach should be on one field and the assistant coach should be on the other field. Small pugg goals will be used.
There will be 4 quarters each lasting 10 minutes. There will be a 2 minute break between quarters and a 5 minute break at halftime.
Player substitution can be done at any stoppage of play or any time the ball goes out of bounds.
The coaches are responsible for refereeing the games. There are no formal referees at this age level.
A kick-off is done after each goal is scored.
On goal kicks the opposing team may not cross the line between the goal and the midfield line until after the ball crosses the line. If the ball does not cross the line then kick over.
In the fall season: Any ball that goes out of bounds will be put back into play by a kick-in. If the ball goes out over the sidelines, the opposing team of the player that last touched to ball befor crossing the sideline, will kick it in from the position it went out. If the ball goes out over the goal line, the defending team will take a goal kick (no matter which team kicked it out). There are no corner kicks or throw-ins during the fall season.
In the spring season: The above rules for the fall season apply except corner kicks are now started. When a ball goes over the goal line, either a corner kick or goal kick will be taken. There are no throw-ins during the spring season either. (Throw-ins will be started at the U8 level).
Medical and liability forms must be carried by the coach to all team activities.
