General Information- F.A.Q.

Below are some Frequently Asked Questions about BRYC Recreational Soccer...

How Do I Register?
All of our registration is done online. Payment is made by credit card..

Do I need a uniform?
Players in the U5 age group or older will need a uniform. (U4 does not need a uniform) Uniforms are ordered online when you register during the early and regular registration timeframe.  After regular registration, a uniform may be purchased in person during our Uniform Night, typically held the evening of the Thursday before the first games of the season.

When are the practices?
Teams in U5- U19 practice on weeknights between 4:30 and 7:30pm. Coaches choose practice times.
Teams in U4 meet on Saturday mornings and their 'season' usually begins one week after the older teams.

How often are the practices?
Teams in U5-U8 practice one hour per week. Teams in U9-U19 practice two hours per week.
Teams in U4 practice once a week on Saturday mornings.

Where are the practices?
Teams practice on area elementary school and Fairfax County parks fields. A listing of fields is available here. Coaches choose practice locations.

When will I get the uniform/ shirt I ordered?
If you ordered a uniform or pieces online, your coach will distribute them to you at one of the first practices.  If you do not have a practice before the first game, please confirm that your coach has your uniform/pieces and arrange for pickup before the game.  If you did not order a uniform online and need one for the first game, please attend the Uniform Night typically held in-person on the Thursday evening before the first game.

When will I hear from my child’s coach?
Your coach will contact you just before the start of the season… mid August for the fall season and mid March for the spring season.

When does the season start and how long does it last?
The fall season begins in mid August and ends in early November. The spring season begins in mid March and ends in early June.

When are the games?
Games are played on Saturday mornings beginning at 9AM and can extend into early afternoon. Teams will rotate through different game times throughout the season.
High School Girls (U16/19) often play on Sundays as part of the high school girls league.

Where are the games?
Games are played on area elementary school and Fairfax County parks fields. Game fields are assigned prior to the beginning of the season. A listing of fields is available here.

What age group is my child in?
The age grouping is determined by the birth year.

In order to determine what age group your child will play in during any given season, subtract their birth year from the spring season of the soccer year in question, e.g., for the Fall 2017-Spring 2018 soccer year, subtract the player's birth year from 2018. Thus, a child born any time in calendar year 2008, would be a U10 in both the fall and spring seasons.

Can my child play in a different age group?
Play-ups may be considered for demonstrated skill levels as determined by coaches and League Directors during a previous season.  Play-ups will be, by far, the exception to the rule.  All other requests must be approved by the Deputy Commissioner or Commissioner. In order to "play up", you must make the request on your registration or via email.
