Fall 2017 Success in the SFL End of Season Tournament!

U19 Boys Sweep the Championships in the SFL Tournament

November 11 - Over the weekend, BRYC U19B teams played in the end of season SFL Tournament.

The Thunder were placed in a very competitive tournament bracket. To win they had to beat three teams over a two day span. The Thunder were challenged in all three of their games. The first two were tied at the end of regulation; Thunder won both games in penalty kicks. The championship game was different. Chantilly came out strong and pressed the entire game. The Thunder’s strong defense held firm. In the second half, one of their defenders took the ball all the way up the field before crossing it to an outside mid who then scored on a one touch shot. After that it was ten to fifteen minutes holding on for a one goal shutout win.

The Noble had a different route to their championship game. First time U19 Coach Melissa motivated her players to reach deep and outscored their opposition 5-2 in the semifinal game. The win happened despite a disputed red card on their veteran keeper (forcing their keeper to sit out championship game).  Halfway through the 2nd half, the score was tied 1-1... then McLean scored the go-ahead goal. With 10 minutes left, the Noble's striker scored to tie the game... and that held to the end of regulation. In the PK tiebreaker... all five players from the Noble lived up to their name and scored, winning a second U19 Boys SFL Trophy for a very proud Coach Melissa.

CONGRATULATIONS to the U19 boys for a great soccer season!!!!!
